Description: This striking figurine is of a Russian Cossack Lieutenant, dressed in his handsome 1830’s winter officer's uniform with regalia, standing next to an axle and wooden wagon wheel in the snow.He was made and hand-painted by the Voigt Bros factory of Sitzendorf Germany, in the early 1900s. This particular statue looks more finely painted than others I have seen. The rear of the base is inscribed: “Russ Kosaken Leutn 1830”. The underside is numbered M-627 and is stamped with the Voigt Brothers’ three blue crossed lines mark. Measures approximately 10.5" tall and 4.5" wide. He's quite an impressive figure, but there are a few specks of paint loss on his black boots and on the brown wagon wheel, and the bottom of the base is chipped in the back which is not noticeable from the front. Could use a light dusting. Otherwise no cracks, crazing, or repairs. Please enlarge and study all photos as they serve as part of the description and might reveal something I missed. NOTE: This item is an antique. It might have additional signs of age and storage wear that is not be visible to me.
