Description: Antique sampler done by Jane Litton aged 19, 1847. The sampler measures 18" x 16" with black wood frame which is 1/2" wide. The background is linen, the sampler is done with wool thread. There are four cross stitch corner designs. A blue and white chinese style vase with roses and leaves on either side of a young girl praying near a cross, with scenery, trees, house and stream in the background. Above her is an angel with a trumpet. In the center in brown is Jane + Litton aged 19 1847. This area has a brown stain. I have not taken the sampler apart. I don't know the cause of the stain. There are no tears or holes to the sampler. The colors are bright and it is nicely composed and executed. Because of the stain, there are no returns on this piece. Still a nice early piece.
