Description: As the handle does not fold down easily, it measures almost 15" high though the lantern part measures 10" high. It was painted red. Stamped Handlan Saint Louis on the top and on the top of the base Property of Consolidated & Son NY. Original globe is made and stamped by Dietz. Very good condition with ordinary aging and wear of the red paint with its only defect being ordinary rusting on the handle and bottom contact surface. This railroad hand-signal kerosene lantern was manufactured by the Handlan Manufacturing Company of St. Louis, Missouri around 1930–1940. The lamp was used on the New York, New Haven, and Hartford Railroad. This one is estimated to have been made in 1935.
