Description: Offering this very rare antique engraving of the Thoroughbred trotting mare Nonpareil as she set a record trotting 100 miles at Sunbury Common in 1836. The engraving is by George Hunt. The information underneath also mentions the famous American trotting horse Tom Thumb. You can find a nice account of Nonpareil's feat in Volume 6 of the 1837 The Farmer's Magazine (can be found via a search of Google Books). There is some slight waviness as well as normal age-related toning and foxing as shown, but the central image is nonetheless complete and attractive. There is display wear to the frame, but it is otherwise solid and ready to hang. Measures 32 1/2" x 24 1/2" framed.
