Description: Early 19th century George III, Wood Tea Caddy of Sarcophagus Form with string inlay, with good hinged lid. This is lovely antique Georgian tea caddy string inlayed which dates to circa 1830. This really is a superb article, as you can see from the photographs this box has a lovely grain. The box is very nicely edged in fine boxwood stringing. The caddy has a nice bone diamond inlay to the keyhole. Inside reveals the two individual interior compartments with two separate lidded tea boxes which have pretty turned bone knobs. Approximate Dimensions: 30cm wide (12”) 12cm (4.75”) deep 13.5cm (5.25”) height CONDITION: The tea caddy is in good condition, as can be seen from the photographs. There are just minor knocks / marks commensurate with age and use. The lids of the compartments are a little loose fitting as can be seen from the photographs of the caddy when open and there are two bun feet missing. Overall it is a really nice tea caddy.
