Description: Antique English Victorian Ladies Work Box, Sewing Box, Jewelry Box, or Trinket Box in Rosewood Veneer with Mother-of-Pearl Inlay. Good condition considering age and use. Rosewood veneer has split across length of top and veneer is missing at corner (bottom front), corner strip (right front), and at bottom edge on both sides. Parts of inlay decoration missing on top (center and two front corners) and on front (escutcheon plate and right). Bottom wood panel has shrunk and split. Fabric protecting bottom has worn away with use. Inside, original dark pink paper only remains on lid. There is no key. Hinges intact and work well. Box measures 12” x 8.25” and is 5” tall. It weighs a little over 2 lb 7 oz. Box could be restored but a lovely and functional piece as is. Please review photographs to confirm condition and description.
