Description: This armchair in solid walnut is inspired by the throne of the French king Dagobert. The front and back frames are characterized by a curved X-shape. The curved seat wooden slats with moldings are mortised into the X frames. The two armrests end in scrolls with leaf sculptures at the front. The back ends are topped by a large scroll decorated with a grimacing demon head. This is a sturdy chair in very good condition. It appears to have been restored many years ago as there is evidence of repairs. There are also tiny worm holes that were left as they were. Another Bygone Antiques great find!
