Description: FINE 17TH CENTURY SPANISH COPPER ALLOY / BRONZE CANDLESTICK WITH OCTAGONAL FACETED BASE AND A TAPERED BULBOUS STEM. THE ROUND CANDLE CUP DOESN'T HAVE A PICK HOLE. The base is octagonal with a raised central depression (for wax collection) rising up to a join with the column. The candle cup was cast with the stem, which was threaded and attached to the base (there is what looks like an original nut screwed onto the stem from underneath}. C 1680 There is no solder underneath, just the old nut used to tighten down the stem. It sits flat and is pretty darn straight (see photos). There is a small crack on the dome of the base that is not very noticeable and does not affect the stability of the candlestick (photos number 3, 4, and 7). Very nice example of this type of candlestickAbout 5 inches tall; across parallel sides of the base measures about 4 5/8 inches
