Description: This is a stunning heavy brass metal domes casket box dating to the 1880s Aesthetic Movement. Beautiful ornate applied strap design with fittings containing polished cabochon style stones made of malachite and agate. The veined stones are very nice and add a great dimension and eye catching element. Measures 7.25 inches wide, 3.5 inches deep and 5.25 inches high when closed. No visible makers marks. Nice presentation, untouched aged patina, light signs of wear, a few small dents. The interior lining is missing on base sides. The bottom is a wood panel covered in dark velvet which is snugly held in place. It can be removed and would need to be reinforced if you plan to carry the box when full of contents.
