Whitish tarnish around the edges and in the recesses. These are Type 1, Third Class (1 star) Type 1 is the first design of the Afghan parachutist badge, from the Kingdom of Afghanistan which existed from approximately 1964-1973. The Third Class badge was received for jumps in combat situations. There are 3 types of parachutist badges from Afghanistan: Type 1 from the Kingdom of Afghanistan, Type 2 from the Republic of Afghanistan and Type 3 from the Democratic Republic of Afghanistan.
