Description: Offered here is a RARE antique children's Picture book, A Tale Of Ten Little Toys, Told by Agnes Hucke, published by Sam'l Gabriel Sons & Company, New York, No. 960, Printed in Germany, no date given; ca 1900 - 1910 estimated from style of book and printing in Germany. Hardcover. 9" across x 7-7/8" high, 20 color illustrated board pages with red cloth spine, color illustrations, some text in color, the top 2-1/2" of the board pages are a series of the "ten little toys" on rectangular die cut pages so each is visible without opening the book, the bottom of each page (a right-hand page) has a four-line verse beginning with a number from one to ten corresponding with the toy (e. g., Five little wooden toys.) followed by three lines of some activity or situation of the number of toy s (the book is a learn-to-count book for young children), the front cover is for the number 10, the illustration and verse on the back cover is about a girl washing her cat; condition is very good, varying degrees of age-toning most notably to series of toys across top of book, small loss of surface paper and closed tear at bottom of first toy at left - back page/cover has slightly miss-cut right edge [from production]end of series cutting off small part of its forehead. A few inside hinges are cracked but still relatively tight. This book has pulp paper cardboard pages. Shipped in plastic, between stiff cardboard and with delivery confirmation.
