But due to this rock's rare large size, this stone would be idea for knapping into a large spear point, axe blade or tomahawk head. Due to its weight, size and shape, it would also make a good hammer stone. Large stones such as this are hard to find. Total weight is approximately 7.5 pounds. Though irregularly shaped, it is roughly box-shaped. At their longest points, the stone's sides measures approximately 4.5" x 4.5" x 4.5", and it is approximately 4.5" inches thick at its fattest. This chert / flint rock has not been heat-treated or processed in any way. Because this is a natural product, it will likely contain fissures, inclusions or fractures. Several are visible on the surface (see photos). Chert and Jasper are the general name for several types of stone that are extremely hard and fracture into pieces with sharp edges.
