Description: We are offering three early 20th c. photogravures two of Alaskan interest (one by F. H. Nowell titled AN ESKIMO CHIEF (copyrighted in 1906) and another unsigned but titled No. 2 BELOW; GLACIER CREEK-NOME. The third photogravure depicts a Western Washington Scene and is titled: SNOQUALMIE RIVER AND MOUNT SI. I believe these last two also date to c. 1910. The one entitled ESKIMO CHIEF was created by Gold Rush photographer Frank Nowell who also became the official photographer for the Alaskan Yukon Pacific Exhibition in Seattle in 1909. its image size is 7 1/2" x 9 3/8". Its sheet size is 10 1/2" x 14". The margins of this photogravure have a few scuffs and tiny spots but the image is in good condition. The second photogravure that's entitled: NO.2 BELOW; GLACIER CREEK - NOME features workers engaged in hydraulic mining deep below the surrounding surface of tundra. it is in very good overall condition with a tiny rip in the edge of the lower margin. Same approximate dimensions as the above. The final photogravure features a scene in the Washington Cascades titled: SNOQUALMIE RIVER AND MOUNT SI. It features a view of Mt. Si from the South ( a bit South and West of North Bend, Washington). It is also in good condition with a tiny tear in the edge of he lower right margin and a few smudges in the margins.
