Description: Here we have a beautiful antique Victorian-era faience plate from Sarreguemines (Digoin, France) in one variation of the Napoleon transferware pattern, showing him on horseback, directing his army. Note that most of the plates available on eBay in this pattern are reproductions from the 1950s, and that this plate is from the earliest antique original production run, circa 1875-1900. Beautiful scalloped rim, teal (leaning more toward green than toward blue) border, with black transferware scenes from the Napoleonic era. Google translates the French text at the bottom of the scene, "Soldiers! From the top of the pyramids, 40 centuries look down on you! (1798)" This is one of two from this pattern that we have available in our store -- see the last photo showing both of these piece, noting that the listing is only for the one shown in the rest of the photos. We have lots of fabulous transferware in our store, to which we add new inventory daily, and we're always happy to combine shipping at actual cost. If the eBay checkout fails to properly combine your orders, we will issue a refund for the difference between what you paid to ship items separately and the actual cost of the combined shipping, on the day that we ship your package. (We don't find out the actual cost of combined shipping until we purchase the shipping label.) Vintage: Sarreguemines mark on back was used in the last quarter of the 19th century, from 1875-1900 Approximate measurements: 7 5/8" in diameter Condition: Our photographs reveal the condition best -- please enlarge and zoom in on them, and examine them carefully. Very clean and fresh piece, in very-good-plus antique condition. Color is vibrant, and transfers are free of wear and tear. No cracks, large chips, silver/gray utensil marks, stains, fading, noticeable scratches, or crazing. A pair of dark divots to the border area on the upper left are the primary condition issue. Edges have the typical and expected scattered tiny bruises, and a few areas with teeny-tiny fleabites, none of which show or otherwise detract from the beauty of the piece under ordinary display conditions. We consider funky odors (cigarette smoke, mildew, etc) to be an important part of a condition report. Corndogcache is a 100% non-smoking environment, and we'll let you know if any of our vintage items smell like it (or anything else) from activities they may have been involved in before they came to us. The Fine Print: We expect payment within 1 day of purchase. If you're waiting for other auctions to end so that you can combine shipping, shoot us a message to let us know.If you're unable to pay within terms, please reach out with your Plan B. Things happen. Especially these days. So just shoot us a message. We don't accept buyer-remorse returns but we will grant you the use of our description and photos so that you can re-ebay the item yourself.Although we don't accept buyer-remorse returns, reach out if you're unhappy with your purchase! If we messed up -- everybody does -- give us a chance to fix it. We promise it was unintentional, and we'll do what we can to make it right.
