Description: The program is in excellent condition with only light wear. All pages are secure, and there are no cut-outs or torn pages. The lineup is also included and has light writing on it. The ticket stub is in excellent condition with a clean perforation and no creases. Numerous pictures were taken to assist with the condition and content of the program. The Festival 250 was included in the NASCAR schedule only one week prior to its running. It was originally scheduled as a USAC Indy Car race. Henry Banks, USAC President, notified Atlanta International Raceway President Nelson Weaver that he was canceling the Indy Car race due to safety concerns. Weaver was upset that USAC canceled the race a mere 36 hours before USAC was supposed to check-in. The scramble was on to add this race to the NASCAR schedule. One can only imagine what went into getting the program ready and printed for the 18,000 fans that attended this race. A field of 42 took the green on July 9, 1961, in the Festival 250 at Atlanta International Raceway. Leading the way was Fireball Roberts, who won the pole with a speed of 136.088 mph. Fred Lorenzen would win this race in the #28 Holman Moody Ford, followed by Bob Welborn, Richard Petty, Emanuel Zervakis, and Jack Smith.
