Description: This is for an original 1961 Fleer football #41 rookie card of former Dallas Cowboy legendary great “Dandy” Don Meredith encapsulated and graded by PSA as NM 7. 1961 Fleers (basketball or football) are notorious for being off center, out of focus and just about everything else you don’t want in a collectable card. This one is nice in both focus and centering with corners sharp enough to shave with and would make a great addition to any high end 1961 Fleer set. Dandy Don was one of the toughest quarterbacks ever along with being part of the legendary Monday Night Football cast of himself, Howard Cosell and Frank Gifford. A couple other sidenotes, the book and movie North Dallas Forty starring Mac Davis and Nick Nolte was based on quarterback Meredith and wide receiver Peter Gent and hearing the song “turn out the lights the party’s over” would be sung by Don when the other team had no chance of coming back in a game. Even though records have never been kept, Merideth once threw an 83 yard pass to Bob Hayes with no YAC. A real NFL great and American legend. Check out the scans and email with any questions.
