Description: This is a 1956 University of Chicago School of Medicine Class Photo, framed, VG condition. It has individual photos of 71 graduates and 21 faculty or administrators. The dean of the medical school in this photo is one of a select group of University of Chicago's faculty included in "Remembering the University of Chicago", Lowell T. Coggeshall, M.D. Coggeshall originally began studies for a doctorate in zoology at Indiana University. He was interested in studying disease-transmitting insects. His friends convinced him that he should obtain a medical degree to do this most effectively, and he soon enrolled at IU's medical school. He soon moved to the University of Chicago. In 1946, Robert Hutchins convinced him to become professor and chairman of medicine at Chicago. He published more than 90 papers during his career. The class photo is framed, 11 1/2" tall by 12 1/2' wide. It was taken by The Album Photographers, 1171 East 55th St., Chicago, Illinois.
