At the time it was called "West" Germany because "East" Germany still existed. It was struck at the Karlsruhe mint in 1955 to mark the 300th anniversary of the birth of Ludwig Wilhelm of Baden-Baden on April 5, 1655. More on him below. It has been certified by the prestigious third-party grading service Numismatic Guarantee Corporation or NGC as Mint State 63. Weight: 11.20 Grams, 29 Millimeters, .625 Silver. Mintage: 198,000. Louis William here was the commander of the "Imperial Forces" during the "War of the Spanish Succession". He fought with distinction at the "Battle of Schellenberg" during the astounding campaign of the Duke of Marlborough that culminated in the "Battle of Blenheim" and saved the "Holy Roman Empire" from the French during that war.
