Description: A nicely preserved vintage photograph out of Portland, Maine. It is difficult to make out in the scans above, but the name Arthur Charles Jackson is written (signed?) in ink on the face of the photo in the lower righthand corner. Additionally, writing in both pencil and ink on the back of the photo reads A likeness of Arthur Charles Jackson, taken in the bookshop of (?) O'Brian, Longfellow Square, Portland, Maine, Feb 1948 (aged 89); Died Oct 3, 1949 (aged 91). Jackson was the founder of the International Longfellow Society, a society dedicated to preserving the childhood birthplace of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. The photo shows light soiling and foxing and general wear around the extremities, but presents quite nicely overall. Make sure to see the scans above for complete details. Measures approximately 10 inches tall by 8 1/4 inches wide. A perfect addition to any fine collection or a wonderful gift for someone special! Price includes FAST, FREE shipping! Buy with confidence!
