Description: a3c; Offered is a wonderful Upstate NY historical novel entitled Genesee Fever by Carl Carmer. Farrar & Rinehart Inc NY, copyright 1941. 360 pages + hard bound cover. I have sold several copies of this neat old book and the past and have received rave reviews from the folks who received them. Book is set in 1793, along the Genesee River in Upstate NY, near present day Rochester NY. As author states "...all the chief events of this tale (dinners, launchings, fights, shows, celebrations, and so on) are matters of historical record. With the exceptions of Nathan Hart, Whirling Gragg, Eleanor FitzHugh, and Catherine O'Bail, all of the characters were actual residents of the Genesee Country. I have given them qualities and abilities ascribed to them by their contemporaries, and on many occasions have let them speak in words authentically set down as their own..." Author researched the book in Rochester, Penn Yan and NYC to describe a few places, to get a great picture of the early pioneer days of the region along the Genesee River, The Shores of Lake Ontario and the Finger Lakes. Lots of local references. A wonderful estate find.Good for age. No dust jacket. Book good, light soiling and wear, minor imperfections for age. Good binding. It measures 5 5/8" x 8 1/2" x 1 1/2". A nice find. Failure to read full description may result in delays and misunderstandings. Please look elsewhere if you feel shipping charge quoted is too high.
