I did some research Passenger Train - Freight train and Coal train cars moved had different rate of pay. Engineers that just worked in rail yards were also paid different than long distance engineers. Each page ( see photos ) broke down what type of cars were moved in his 9 1/2 hour work day. As a child I rode the same rails and remember a shifter moved our passenger car from the Diesel engine line to Electric lines from Harrisburg to Philadelphia PA. The two extra photos ( Not included in this sale ) show the Rail yard Mr. S.S. OTT worked in Shifting rail cars . I also spent a few extra hours trying to find more about the man who GUARDED his Time sheet . It looks like his Brother E.E.OTT also worked for the railroad. Men in 1923 worked six days a week 9 1/2 hours a day , My parents also worked six days a week till the 1960's .
