Description: I have here for sale a book entitled THE OUTDOOR YEAR By William J. Claxton. First edition published by Blackie and Sons Limited, London in 1922. This book covers all aspects of England's flora and fauna. 19 illustrated and photographic plates, 4 in colour and 15 black and white. As well as many in text illustrations. It is laid out month by month, mentioning birds and trees and other natural history for each month of the year. Each chapter has an illustrated woodcut chapter heading.Bound in dark blue cloth hardboards with faded yellow title lettering to the front board, and gilt lettering to the spine. Bumped and chipped to head and tail of spine, and bumped to the corners. Some pages have inscriptions. Front free endpaper has an inscription. Pencil notes to the reverse of the title page. Both boards feel firm, split front joint. 2 Plates and a page detached (pgs. 15 - 16). Binding is pulling.
