This seems to be a commercial Trinket Case/Jewelry Box that had various prints under the glass. It is labeled "Victorian" by the info I found, but I can't pinpoint its origin, so this could be from the late 1880s to the early 1900's. The hand tinted Lithograph print is a Godey's Americanized Paris Fashion Plate from 1847. It had a small vertical divider at one time, but this is missing. Opens and closes easily, no damage found other than usual age wear, some scrapes and bumps.The print has some old rippling, and age darkening. Fashion plates were hand-colored engravings and color lithographs that appeared in women's magazines or books. Godey's Fashion Plates are from Paris, France. Since clothing could not be obtained ready-made, these plates provided information to dressmakers and home sewers on the latest fashion trends.The frames have expected wear and dents/dings/scrapes. The paper is age darkened. Otherwise no damage found. Appears to be from the Civil War Era.
