Description: A rare 1834 second edition of the Memoirs of Vidocq, two volumes, bound in their original boards. In good condition with some wear from age - covers are perhaps gently loosening (a little delicate), one page is missing to volume one (p. 81-82), and both may be lacking one or two blank end-papers. Some fading to the spine edges. Vidocq is considered to be the father of modern criminology force and regarded as the first private detective. This book influenced authors such as Edgar Allan Poe, Balzac and Victor Hugo.
