Along with these methods someone got the idea that using long ladder bars mounted between the rear end and the frame would help transfer more weight as the car left the line. These plans will produce ladder bars about 18" longer than modern bars. They are of the old school rectangular tube design and are rigidly mounted to the rear end housing. Most Gassers use a leaf spring to mount the rear end. The problem is that the springs and the ladder bars are different lengths and pivot on different arcs. The short answer is that the suspension binds up and can not move. The bars in these plans have a very unique front mounting arrangement that permits the front mount to move with the suspension to prevent the binding, They have the nostalgia look but have the modern front mounting arrangement to provide better ride and handling.Application: Universal fit street or mild strip traction bars.
